毒物誤嚥4例—白髪染パラフエニーレン・ヂアミン，昇汞及び苛性ソーダ

　所謂毒物とは普通比較的少量にて身體に著明なる障碍を惹起せしむる物質の總括であつて，一般に中毒を惹起せしめる毒物を大別して1）治療藥品類，2）工業用藥品類，3）飲食物及び嗜好品類，4）有毒植物類，5）共の他炭酸ガス，一酸化炭素，蛇毒，毒瓦斯等が擧げられ，是等の毒物は自殺，他殺，疾病の治療，職業上の環境又は家庭的な環境等に應じて互に關係すけられ，此處に急性又は慢性の中毒症が成立する。刈米氏の報告によれば中毒者8956名で毒物は猫イラズを筆頭に約40種の多きに亙り，自殺の目的によるものが約半數を超え，誤用，他殺が之に次ぎ又全中毒患者の内約1/3は死亡している。斯くの如く毒物中毒は吾人が日常屡々遭過するもので，その報告例も廣く各種の毒物に亙つてをり枚擧に暇がない。

　凡そ毒物の體外より體内に侵入する方法に1）經口的に侵入する場合，2）呼吸器を經て侵入する場合，3）皮膚並びに粘膜表面より侵入する場合，4）注射により侵入する場合等が擧げられているが，中でも經口的に吸收された場合殊に毒物が酸又はアルカリ性物質である場合には多くは口腔，咽頭，喉頭，食道及び胃腸粘膜等を侵すために耳鼻咽喉科領域と最も關係が深い。

　GOTO reports 4 cases of toxicosis due to chemical agents, paraphenylendiamine mercuric chloride and caustic soda respectively, which were taken internally in each case with suicidal attempt. The two who imbibed paraphenylendiamine, black hair-dye, were girls of the same age of 17. They recovered by symptomatic treatments after a few gastric lavages were carried out. Mercuric chloride was taken by a male student aged 20. Mucous membranes of the mouth became involved with advanced tissue degeneration and manifestations of toxicosis was generalized, but, the patient recovered under treatment. Caustic soda was taken by a male factory worker, aged 23. Deep burns occurred at the second esophageal constriction and the patient died.
