IZUMI reports a case in which he substantiates symptoms of Mygind's fistula. A farmer aged 22 is found with cholestesteatoma of the middle ear, in whom symptoms of a well established fistula were manifested by presence of first degree nystagmus characterized by minute movements peculiar to this condition. When pressure was applied to the carotid artery, either one or both, right component of the nystagmus become larger in amplitude of excursion. Thes facts of the case, the author says, are in a close agreement with those of Mygind's which were made in his original report. The latter maintained that the symtoms were results of negative pressure effects created in the vestibular lymph circulation in consequence to decreased blood flow of the artery which supply this area; the arteries were made narrow from the pressure exerted upon them from without by inflammatory processes including granulation tissues.
