　喉頭を檢査するためには色々な方法がある．

　1）間接喉頭鏡　2）聽診，3）触診，4）直接喉頭鏡5）レントゲン檢査法．このうち3, 4, 5は特別の場合のほか用いられない．一般に普及しているのはどうしても間接喉頭鏡である．2）の聽診であるがステトスコープを喉頭部に当てゝ声帶の麻痺やポリープを診断することも出來るが，実用的の價値はない．唯私はこれを声樂家の音声障害の判断に利用したい．勿論ステトスコープを使う必要はないが檢者は耳をよく訓練しなくてはならぬ．

Hayashi discusses points on indirect laryngo-scopy with reference to the preparation and the position of the patient and the sequense in the steps of the order of examination. Particularly on manipulation of laryngoscopic mirrors the author emphasizes the use of left hand contra-ry to methods usually prescribed in ordinary text books on the subject. Vocal disorders found in vocalists, as a whole, are accompanied by specific symptoms that are peculiarly common to this group of people. The necessity that the examiner train his own hearing power in order to carry out examination of complete vocal sca-le of the patient's voice is emphasized.
