はじめに

　脳血管系の病変は，種々の循環障害の原因として重要であるのみならず，老化にともなう疾患群あるいは先天異常，さらには腫瘍性病変とも関連する。脳血管系は，循環動態の面でも，また形態学的な面でも，他の血管系と異なる独自性を有し，種々の外的・内的要因により多様な病変を示してくる。本稿においては，主として脳血管障害と病理像の関連について述べることにする。なお，脳血管障害の原因としては脳動脈系が主体をなすため，本稿では主として動脈系病変について述べることになる。

Pathology of the cerebral vessels which are the main sites of the cerebrovascular disorders was reviewed.

The intracranial cerebral arteries are featured with the absence of the external elastic laminas and the thin medial smooth muscle layers as com-pared with the other muscular type arteries of the same size. Because of these features the cerebral arteries demonstrate specific histopathological changes under various conditions.
