Abstract
1. Review of psychological studies on aging and intelligence
It was about 60 years ago that the psychological study on aging and intelligence was begun, and the study in this field has been developing steadily during these years. Many useful data were accu-mulated and methodology of the study were ex-amined. In early studies intellectual decline with aging tended to be overestimated, but it was corrected later. At present the intelligence of aged persons is not thought to be much lower than that of young adults and does not decline sharply with age.
