はじめに

　脳は分化の進んだ高度な機能を有する臓器であり，その構成細胞成分には大別してニューロンとグリアの2種類の細胞集団から構成されている。両者が互いに緊密な相関関係を保つことにより，脳の高次な複雑な機能が維持されているものと考えられる。

　さて近年，神経系の発達過程に障害を伴なう数多くの突然変異マウスが見出されてきたが，それらのうちにはニューロン・グリア相関に破綻をきたしたものがいくつか見出されている^7）。ミエリン形成の過程は，ニューロン・グリア相関の典型的な例であるが，この過程に障害を伴なうものにjimpy,quaking,shiverer,twitcher，tremblerなど数多く知られている。これらはいずれもヒトのロイコジストロフィーに完全に類似していないにしても，多くの点で類似点が多く疾患モデルとして用いられている。シパラーマウスはミエリン形成不全とともにニューロンの突起形成異常を示し，企図振戦・痙攣発作，運動失調を伴なう^1〜7）。

Abstract

Shiverer mutant mouse is one of the neuro-pathological mutant mice and is characterized by abnormal and poor myelin formation of the central nervous system. Chimera mice were pro-duced from wild type control (C57BL/6N) and the shiverer mutant mice (BALB/c) by the aggregation technique in order to analyse the pathogenesis of the shiverer mutation. The coat color was a mosaic of both strains. Immunohisto-chemically we have examined sections of cerebellar white matter of the chimera using antiserum against myelin basic protein (MBP), since MBP is absent in the myelin of the shiverer.
