On the recent advances in the study of oligodendroglia

I．はじめに

　Oligodendrogliaは脳白質内においてはinterfascicuiar oligodendrogliaとして，また脳灰白質では神経細胞のsatellite cellとして存在し，中枢神経のmyelinationおよびその維持，また神経細胞の機能を保つのに重要な役割を果たしている。過去十数年にわたってoligodendrogliaのbiologyに関してはきわめて多くの新しい知見が得られている。しかしながら，そのすべてについてこの限られた頁の中で述べることは全く不可能であるので，ここではoligodendrogliaの分化，形態に関する新しい所見を主とし，最近，とくに過去5,6年の間に急速に発展してきたoligodendrogliaのspecific markerおよびそれを用いたimmunohistochemistryの仕事について少し触れてみたいと思う。そして最後にさまざまの病的状態におけるoligodendrogliaの分化の異常，変性，反応について形態的な立場から，とくにその微細構造の変化について種々の例を挙げて述べてみたいと思う。

Abstract

　Current knowledge on the biology and pathology of oliogodendroglia was briefly reviewed; in the early stage of development, oligodendroglia was differentiated from the immature precursor cells, oligodendroblasts, and then proliferated before and during myelination. In the developing brain of young animals, three types of oligodendroglia, light, medium, and dark types, were morphologically identified. The light oligodendroglia was the most immature type and was differentiated into medium, then dark type.
