Abstract 文献概要

　痛覚伝達の神経機構に関する研究は主として脊髄後角を中心に発展してきた。その背景にgate control theory（Melzack ＆ Wall，1965）の貢献があったことを見逃せない。しかし，その後の研究によってこの学説は否定され，もはや通用しなくなった（横田，1980）。そこで，脊髄後角における痛覚情報の伝達が現在どのように考えられているかを紹介し，それとの関連において三叉神経系についても触れようと思う。

　Over the past decade, considerable progress in our understanding of pain mechanisms has been made in two major fields, i.e., in the field of sensory coding in nociceptive neurons, and in the field of endogenous pain control mechanisms. The present paper described nociceptive neurons in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord and its trigeminal counterpart, the trigeminal subnucleus caudalis.

　1. The dorsal horn of the spinal cord In the dorsal horn of the spinal cord, there are two general categories of spinothalamic and non-spinothalamic neurons which respond maximally to noxious stimuli.
