An unusual case of presenile dementia with numerous argentophilic plaques and severe amyloid vascular changes

I．緒　言

　老化とamyloidとの関連については，比較的古くから多くの論議がなされている。

　脳の老化に関連してamyloidが重視される理由は，脳の老化を特徴づける形態学的表現の一つである老人斑にamyloidの沈着が認められること^4），老人脳の血管壁にamyloidの沈着により^22），老人斑様血管変化drusige Entartungに至る血管病変が認められ^21），老人斑の成因に深い関連が考えられてきたことにある^22）。

Abstract

Clinicopathological features with electron micro-scopical findings of an unusual case of presenile dementia were reported.

Clinically, a 39 years-old man began to com-plain of low back pain and leg pains and deficulty in walking and then he developed mental dis-turbances such as depressive mood change and personality change. He became increasingly demented and deteriorated and expired in the apallic state 2 years and a half after the onset of his illness.

Macroscopically, the weight of the brain was 1,450gr. The leptomeninges over the convexities were to some extent opaque and only slightly thickened.
