I．緒　言

　脊髄活動電位測定の実用化は，脊髄の解剖学的条件のために遅れた。しかし，電子加算平均装置の普及した今日では技術的困難はほぼ克服されており，手技になお洗練の余地はあるものの，日常検査として外来でもこれを行なえるようになった。

　開発されてまだ日が浅いために，いまのところ臨床的な利用価値はごく限られているが，しかし脊髄または神経根の活動電位を直接測定することによって，他の検査法では入手できないいくつかの情報が得られている。本稿は，新らたに脊髄活動電位に関心を持たれた方，あるいはこの方面に着手される方を念頭に置き，現行の検査法の大略と臨床応用の現況を述べることとしたい。紙数の都合上省略せざるをえない手技の詳細は参考文献1,6，11,15,20,22,24を参照していただきたい。

Abstract

Recent popularization of the electronic averaging machine enabled a direct observation of the evoked action potentials of the spinal cord as well as those of the peripheral nerves. The spinal cord activity could be evoked either indirectly through electrical stimulations on the peripheral nerves or directly through stimulations on the spinal cord itself.

The wave patterns of the action potentials evoked by peripheral nerve stimulations were susceptible to a shift of the leading electrode not only in the frontal but also sagittal plane of the subject.
