INTRODUCTION

　Neurologic disease as a result of intoxicationby obscure as well as common organic chemical compounds and heavy metals is wellknown. Mercury, lead, arsenic, antimony, tinand thallium compounds have been used inthe past and are still being used as therapeuticagents, seed dressings and fungicides, butlittle investigation has been carried out on thebasic mechanisms involved in the biologicactions of these various metals at toxic levels.
