1．まえがき
視床は間脳の背側部を占め，とくに系統発生とともに著明な発育を示す領域である、従来視床の解剖学に関する研究は非常に断片的で，種々の材料および方法を用いて系統的に研究したものがない．著者は協同研究者とともにこの20年来種々の動物およびヒトを用いて視床を個体発生学的，比較解剖学的，構築学的ならびに線維結合の観点から詳しく研究し，とくに機能との関連において視床を総合的に解明しようと企ててきたが，ここではその結果を中心として視床の解剖学を概観したいと思う。
一般に視床という名称は種々の意味で用いられているが，これをもつとも広く解すると視床下部以外の間脳の全領域を指すことになり，またもつとも狭く解するとほぼ背側視床から内側および外側膝状体を除いた領域を指すことになる。
In the present paper the current investigationson the anatomy of the dorsal thalamus are reviewedand discussed on the basis of results obtained atour laboratory.
Of all the regions of the diencephalon, thedorsal thalamus shows the most conspicuous evolu-tional changes. Therefore, the homologies of thethalamic nuclei in vertebrates are not well establ-ished. In order to solve this problem, the dorsalthalamus should be studied from the standpoints ofthe comparative anatomy, ontogenesis, architectureand fiber connections.
Concerning the fiber connections of the dorsalthalamus, there are numerous unsolved problems.However, the recent investigations applying theNauta silver method reveal that much progresshas been made in the study of the conduction pathsof the thalamus.
