　人体は皮膚によっておおわれ，その下には皮下脂肪層があって，主として保温の役割を果たしている。皮下脂肪組織の代謝は，自律神経系の支配下にあると考えられているが，本稿では，その皮下脂肪層の局所的な萎縮をきたすいくつかの疾患について述べる。

Local panatrophy and its related disorders were described, which included progressive facial hemiatrophy, total hemiatrophy, lipodystrophia centrifugalis abdominalis infantilis, progressive lipodystrophy and insulin fat atrophy. The under-lying pathological condition common to all these diseases is a subcutaneous fat atrophy. Pathogenesis of these disorders were discussed from the stand-point of the autonomic nervous system dysfunction.
