　小脳が運動学習に深く関与していることが，前庭動眼反射の適応や瞬膜反射のパブロフ型条件付けの研究を通じて明らかにされている。本稿では，まず小脳の神経細胞における学習の基本的シナプス機構である長期抑圧（Long-term Depression，LTD）を紹介し，次に小脳片葉（Flocculus）による前庭動眼反射の調節機構を解説する。さらに，小脳が視機性眼球反応（OKR），滑動性眼球運動（Smooth Pursuit）においてどのような役割を演じているか検討する。

The neural mechanisms for the short-term adaptation of the vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) eye movements by continuous vestibular-visual interactions has been investigated as an experimental model of the cerebellar motor learning. The flocculus hypothesis (Ito, 1970) supposes a critical role in a particular group of neurons in the cerebellar flocculus in the adaptation of the VOR. Our results of lesion, single unit recording and circuitry analysis studies in the rabbit and monkey consistently support this hypothesis.
