　MRIによる骨転移の診断能力を腰椎と骨盤について検討した。MRIは骨シンチグラフィーよりも転移巣の検出に優れており，病理解剖組織との比較では偽陽性を認めなかった。脊椎骨や骨盤骨の骨髄に初期の転移巣を形成しやすい前立腺癌症例では骨転移の診断におけるMRIの有用性は大きい。

The authors analyzed the diagnostic ability of the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) on detection of the metastases of the lumbar and pelvic bone in patients with prostatic and bladder carcinoma. MRI was more sensitive than bone scintigraphy in detection of metastatic bone tumors and had no false positive confirmed by the pathological findings in 4 autopsies.

We concluded that MRI was useful in depiction of the metastases of vertebral and pelvic bone, especially in patients with prostatic carcinomas which tend to metastasize to these bone.
