　はじめに

　石灰化上皮腫は，1880年，Malherbeら^1）により初めて報告された毛母系の良性腫瘍で，主に皮膚科領域での報告が多かったが，最近では耳鼻咽喉科領域での報告が散見されるようになってきている^2〜6）。今回われわれは，1993〜1998年の過去5年間に当院を受診し治療を受けた石灰化上皮腫症例について臨床的検討を加えた。またその中で，耳鼻咽喉科を受診した症例について報告する。

Calcifying epithelioma which is derived from the hair matrix and is a benign tumor, was first report-ed by Malherbe in 1880. Since then, many similar cases have been reported in the field of dermatol-ogy. Recently, many of these cases were reported in the field of otorhinolaryngology. We presenteda acase of calcifying epithelioma. Morever, we examined 21 cases of calcifying epithelioma that were removed in our institution between 1993 and 1998.

21 cases have also been described in the field of dermatology otorhinolaryngology, orthopedics and surgery. The age at onset ranged from one to 55 years. The mean age was 17.4 years.

The patients under 19 years of age were 14 cases. Ten cases occurred in males and 11 in females. The tumor was completely removed in all cases and no recurrence has been detected.
