　はじめに

　スギ花粉の飛散は，例外的飛散を除き2〜3か月に限られている。一般に花粉症は我妻^1）によると3〜5歳からみられ，素因の強いものでは3シーズン程度の曝露で発症すると考えられている。しかしながら，小児スギ花粉症の大規模な疫学的調査は森^2）による栃木県壬生町における研究などが散見されるのみである。また，臨床症状について成人と比較検討したものは少ない。われわれは，1996年まででは最も花粉の飛散量が多い年であった1991年に大規模な疫学的調査を施行し，この中で，236例の15歳以下の小児症例をみいだすことができた^3）。一方，現在の成人症例は，ほとんどが1970年代，すなわち，成人以降に発症した症例であることも判明し，小児の症例と疫学的に異なった母集団であることが考えられる。今回，小児スギ花粉症例の疫学的特徴について発症状況，症状，合併症に焦点をあて，成人発症症例と比較検討したので報告する。

Two hundred and thirty-six children with Japanese cedar pollinosis, whose age ranged from 5 to 15, were analyzed, and the results were compared with those of 894 adult patients.

The number of male children was significantly greater than that of the female. The number of children tends to increase gradually up to the age of 11, and then little rapidly from 12 to 15 years of age. The largest number of patients developed symptoms at the age of 10.

Nasal obstruction was more frequently com-plained in the children than the adult. Bronchial asthma, and atopic dermatitis were significantly more common in children than in adult. No signifi-cant association was found between the age of development of symptoms and HD RAST positivity.
