　はじめに

　頸動脈小体腫瘍（carotid body tumor）は比較的まれな疾患で，頸動脈分岐部に発生し非常に血流が豊富である。解剖学的位置および易出血性のため手術は困難を極める。今回われわれは，頸動脈小体腫瘍の1例を経験し，術前画像診断および治療につき検討したので報告する。

A 26-year-old female presented with a carotid body tumor near the skull base. Because of possibil-ity of vascular surgery, we planned the mandibular swing method prior to the operation to gain a wideoperative field. This was not necessary, however, since retraction of the mandibular bone enabled the carotid artery to be well visualized. Though making the preoperative diagnosis by CT, MRI, MRA and angiography is relatively easy, adhesion between a tumor and the carotid artery cannot be estimated exactly by preoperative radiological studies. We therefore suggest that the mandibular swing method should be selected if a wide operative field is neces-sary.
