　緒言

　甲状腺疾患の頻度は炎症，自己免疫，腫瘍など各種の疾患が存在するたあ，われわれが通常考える以上に多い^1）。今回われわれは，披裂部所見より下咽頭腫瘍を疑い，その後精査を進め甲状腺機能低下症と診断のついた1例について報告し若干の文献的考察を加えた。

A 44-year-old female with hypothyroidism pre-sented with hoarseness.

Hypopharyngeal tumor was suspected because of an edematous swelling of the the arytenoid. However, the patient showed edematous features of the face and lower extremities, and laboratory examinations revealed hypofunction of the thyroid gland. Myxoedema at the face and lower extre-mities, huskey voice and the swelling of the arytenoid were improved by thyroid hormone therapy. It should be taken into consideration that laryngeal myxoedema might appear as a localized sign of hypothyroidism. Increase of mucopolysaccharide in the tissue is supposed to be a cause of swelling of the larynx.
