　緒言

　悪性線維性組織球腫（malignant fibrous histio-cytoma，以下MFH）は1970年代までは組織球由来の稀な腫瘍とされていたが，今日では軟部組織由来の肉腫の中では最も頻度が高いものとして注目される^1〜3）。最近われわれは特異な甲状軟骨の浸潤，破壊を呈し，診断，治療に苦慮したMFHの成人例を経験したので，若干の文献的考察を加えて報告する。

A 52-year-old male developed hoarseness, and an elastic hard mass, 3 cm in diameter, was noted in the left anterior neck. CT revealed partial destruction of the left side of thyroid cartilage. Direct laryngoscopy showed bulging at the left false vocal cord. Although histopathological findings from preliminary biopsy specimen were reported as inflammatory tissue, surgical resection was selected corresponding to the clinical and image findings which were suggesting neoplastic lesions. Tumor mass, which arose from perichordrium, invaded deep into the paraglottic space. Although the left side cartilage along with tumor and sur-rounding tissue was widely excised, the mobility of cords was preserved. The final histopathological diagnosis turned out to be malignant fibrous histiocytoma, inflammatory type. Postoprative course was uneventful, and there was no evidence of recurrence or metastasis.
