I．はじめに

　鼻石に関する報告は多く，1974年の犬山ら^1）の統計によればすでに100症例を教える。症例の報告はその後も続き，現在では種々の分析法による化学的組成の解明やさらに電子顕微鏡を用いた表面微細構造の報告^2）がなされているが，その成因についてはいまだ不明の点が多い。われわれは最近鼻腔内に発生した1症例を経験したが，病理組織学的検討から歯牙が核となり結石様変化を示したものと判明した。今回の症例の検討から，鼻石の生成過程について若干の考察を得ることがでぎたので報告する。

A 55-year-old male with the chief complaints of purulent nasal discharge and nasal obstruction of the right side for two years received Caldwell-Luc operation. A mass was removed from the right maxillary sinus en bloc under general anes-thesia. The specimen of the mass weighted 11. 8 g and measured 2.8 × 2.9 × 2.1 cm.

On histopathological examination, it was iden-tified as a rhinolith in which the center was formed by a supernumerary tooth surrounded by fibrous mucous membrane with new bone forma-tion.
