　後極部の硝子体牽引による網膜裂孔が原因となった網膜剥離5例に経毛様体扁平部ビトレクトミーとガスタンポナーデを施行し，いずれも網膜の復位を得た。赤道部弁状裂孔による網膜剥離3例にも試み，この方法の適応と問題点および眼内灌流液の問題点について論じた。

We treated 5 eyes with retinal detachment due to traction retinal break in the posterior pole by means of pars plana vitrectomy and gas tamponade. Preoperatively, there were no signs of proliferative vitreoretinopathy. We intentionally avoided to produce chorioretinal scar during the surgical pro-cedure. All the thus treated 5 eyes resulted in satis-factory cure.

We also treated 3 other cases with retinal detach-ment due to equatorial traction tear using a similar procedure. The surgery proved to be a failure so that a second surgery was required using conven-tional encircling procedure in these cases.
