斜視眼における外眼筋の厚度と張力を測定して以下の結果を得た。
（1）外斜視における筋厚度は，内直筋1.91mm，外直筋2.28mmで，外直筋が内直筋よりも0.37mm大きな値を示した。内斜視においては内直筋1.11mm，外直筋1.08mmで有意差は認められなかった。
（2）外斜視における張力係数は，内直筋で0.380，外直筋で0.282と内直筋が大きな値を示した。内斜視においては内直筋0.246，外直筋0.234で有意差は認められなかった。
（3）外斜視における筋厚度1単位当りの張力係数は，内直筋で0.26，外直筋で0.15と内直筋が大きな値を示した。内斜視においては内直筋0.25，外直筋0.22で有意差は認められなかった。
The thickness of the external ocular muscle wasmeasured by ultrasonic sound and resting tension of the muscle was also measured during operation for strabismus in order to reveal the pathogenesis of strabismus anatomically and dynamically. The relationship between muscle thickness and resting tension was compared in patients with esotropia or exotropia.
The subjects were 15 eyes of 15 patients aged from 2 to 13 years (8 patients with exotropia and 7 with esotropia).
