イミダリン誘導体の1つとして新しく合成された本剤は，1954年Sahyun及びEmerson氏等によつて血管収縮作用のあることが発見されたものである。
ナーベル（仮称）は，2-（1,2,3,4-テトラヒドローイーナチフル）-イミダゾリン塩酸塩で，アドレナリン様の強力な血管収縮作用を有することが，既に林・内海両氏によつて報告されており，且つその毒性のきわめて弱い点から，当然眼科領域に於ける適応範囲も大きいことが期待できる。
Clinical and Ophthalmological Application was tried with new vasotonics "Nabel". The results are as follows :
1) The vasoconstriction of the conjnnctival blood vessels is caused more sufficiently by the ophthalmic instillation of 0.1% Nabel than by adrenaline.
2) Variations of ocular tension, and pupillary diameter didn't occur at the course of ocu-lar instillation, and neither irritable symptoms nor corneal damages couldn't be noticed,
3) Subjective symptoms of the anterior eye-ball in acute occurrence subside well by the combination of other drugs, such as antibiotics.
