緒言

　Vogtはその名著Lehrbuch und Atlas Spal-tlampenmikroskopie des Lebendesaugesの中で角膜のChagrinに就て言及し，それは角膜の内皮細胞層の附近に於て，丁度同条件下の水晶体の上皮に見られるChagrinlederartigの徴候に似ていると述べている。

　Chagrinと言う名称は水晶体前面に鏡面法で，稍々不規則な線状又は凹凸の反射を認め，これが鮫革の様である事からChagrinと名付けたものであり，是等は何れも生理的に見られる現象である。所で病的に現われる際はやゝ趣を異にし，水晶体Chagrinの場合にもその前面或は後面のみに限らず，水晶体の中にも色の変つたChagrinの出現があり，これは屡々，併発白内障或はChalkosis lentisの際などに経験されるものであるとしている。この様な病的のChagrinの出現は，角膜に於ては水晶体に比して更に稀なものである。

The 8 cases of Keratitis with chagrin in pathologic cornea were studied by microscopic observation, using a slit-lamp. These glaring chagrins showed a similar white or light ye-llow turbidity in their basis.

Many chagrins, which exsuclated from blood vessels and precipitated there, look like pins and show a beautiful end regular orientation. It is often complicated with Keratitis parenchy-matosa chronica. This exsudate of chagrins did not appear gradually, but it appeared rather suddenly.
