緒言
従来顏貌に関する研究は，人類学的に多方面より研究され，既に微に入り細を穿つた感があるが，未だ顔貌形成に相当重要な役割を果している眉に関する研究は少い。殊に眉形態の計測については殆どその報告を見ない。
そこで筆者は，一定の注意のもとに九州人につき眉の長さ，眉間の距離，及び眉の外端間距離などの計測を行い，性別的並に年齡別的に検討を試みたので，その結果を茲に報告する。但し本篇に於いては琉球与論島民の資料も得たので，同時にその成績も茲に記述する。
The lateral distance, internal distance and length of eye-brow were studied in 2254 Kyushu people and in 435 Yoronto people.
1) The lateral distance of eye-brow increased promptly in child till 25yr. old and start to decrease after 60yr. old gradually. After middle age, the distance of male is larger than female.
2) The internal distance is wide in nursling and shorten once in infant and decrease gra-dually. Marked increase was seen after 60yr. old.
3) The length of eye-brow was almost same in both side, the course of change of the len-gth is same with lateral distance.
