（18）学童トラコーマの検診から見たトの発病問題に就て—特に細隙灯による検査の必要を論ず

Studies on the Onset of Trachoma among School Children, with a special Reference to the Need of Slit-lamp Examination.

緒言

　三井氏等の唱導する総べてのトラコーマが急性に発病すると云う学説は正に虚構ではないか。鈴木はこの点を明らかにしたい為めに，一昨年来学童の検診成績から，トは大部分無自覚，慢性に発病するのである事を再三主張して来た^1）2）3）。吾々の教室では鈴木のこの主張を更に確認すべく，その後も学童トを対象にその経過を観察中であるが以下今日迄に得た成績の中から，1,2気付いた処を報告しておきたいと思う。最近の臨眼10号誌上に中村教授はW．H．O．国際トラコーマ専門委員会の報告を詳細に述べておるが，その中で日本のト急性発病説に関しては彼の地で徹底的に批判されて来た事を告白しておるが，一昨年来の鈴木の学会に於ける発表を伝へて頂けなかつたようで心から残念に感ずる処であるが，その意味をも含めて，ここにトの急性発病説に，正面から反対して来た吾々の立場を更に明確にしておきたいと思う。

I have been strongly opposed to Dr. Mitsui's theory that all cases of trachoma are accompa-nied by acute symptoms. This time I have conducted for two years trachoma examinationsusing slit-lamps of children of two schools in the city.

1) It has been proved from the observation of conjunctiva and pannus that the majority of trachoma patients attacked during the past one or two years were infected insidiously and only a small minority experienced acute conjunctivitis. Therefore it can be concluded that the tra-ditioanl theory maintaing the insidious attack holds true and Dr. Mitsui's contention is errone-ous.
