緒言

　眼球周囲組織の悪性新生物に対する放射線療法が普及するにつれ，照射野に含まれる眼球の放射線障害を被る機会が多くなつた。眼組織の中でも，網膜は放射線に対する感受性が低いと考えられていたが，種々の程度の障害を受けることが数多く報告されている。しかし，放射線照射を受けた人眼網膜を電子顕微鏡で観察した記載は，まだあまりみられない。

　私どもは，さきにCo⁶⁰照射を受けた2例の人眼網膜外層の電子顕微鏡所見を報告^1）したが，その後，さらに2例を観察する機会をえた。既報の所見に加えて，色素上皮細胞の非薄化および部分的消失，脈絡毛細血管基底板の著明な肥厚ならびに網脈絡膜血管内腔の閉塞など，興味ある所見がえられたので追加報告する。

Four cases of irradiated human retina were observed by electron microscopy. All cases re-ceived radiation therapy (total doses: 6,000 to 12,000R) to the maxillary malignant neoplasms.

The alteration of the retina and the choroid is described as follows.

1) The various stages from degeneration to disappearance of the outer segment of the pho-toreceptor cell is observed. There are some re-gions showing the disappearance of the inner and the outer segments, where the outer nuc-lear layer is in contact with the pigment epi-thelial cells directly and the naked nucleus of the photoreceptor cell is also seen.
