緒言

　Retinoschisis （以下RSと略す）とは，Duke—Elder^1）によれば，「網膜が2層に分かれるということであり，通常視細胞層と双極細胞層の間の外網状層で分かれる病変である」。欧米にはかなり多数例の報告^2）〜8）があるが，本邦ではあまり報告がなく，その報告も，すべて視力障害を起こして眼科医を訪れて発見されたものである^9）〜15）。

　しかし，最近，私どもは人間ドックでの眼底検査で偶然RSと思われる病変のある1例を見出し精査をしたので，ここに報告する。

Only few cases of retinoschisis were reported hitherto in Japan. And all of them were found when they visited ophthalmologist because of their visual disturbances.

A 62-year-old man was discovered to have retinoschisis in both eyes at the physical check up. No subjective signs were noted. There was slight loss of his peripheral uisual field. In the inferotemporal quadrant of the fundus of both eyes, a giant cyst-like elevation of retina, which was clearly different from retinal detachment on various aspects, was found. This retinoschisis has not made any progress for one year.
