Improved Gullstrand's Model Eye and the Goldmann Contact Lens for Better Fundus Photography

緒言

　市販されている眼底カメラによる眼底における解像力の理論的限界は，カメラ内に設けられている光束絞のためそれ程高くなく，1mm当り200本前後である。細隙灯顕微鏡も対物レンズの有効径に比して，作動距離が比較的に長いためにNAも必然的に小さくなり，分解の限界もせいぜい260本どまりであり，ほとんどの市販品は200本以下である。眼底カメラや細隙灯顕微鏡の限界解像力を向上させることはそれ程むずかしいことでなく，現在の様に高解像力レンズが数多く造られている技術をもつてすれば，容易に開発可能であるといえる。

　有効光束径も大きくすることによつて，光学系のみの限界解像力は向上出来ても，眼底における分解能を向上させるためには眼球自身のもつ球面収差や色収差などを，光学系と同等以上に除去することなしには，如何に観察や撮影のための光学系の性能をすぐれたものにしても無意味である。眼球の収差を除去する光学系をつくるためには，まず眼球そのものの収差が明確になる必要がある。

It has generally been agreed upon that thelimit of resolving power of fundus photograph or fundoscopy lies at about 200 lines/mm upon the retina when using the fundus camera or slitlamp microscope.

In order to achieve a higher resolution, it is necessary to eliminate spherical and chromatic aberration of the eye, not to speak of using a high quality fundus camera or slitlamp micro-scope.

The authors developed a high-quality auxi-liary contact lens which is composed of two concave elements and which reduces the sphe-rical aberration of the hyman eye into the ne-gligible amount of less than 0.01mm.
