I．緒言

　近年，ATP （adenosine triphosphate）は各科領域において繁用され，眼科領域においても，主として注射や内服などで眼精疲労や調節異常に対してその効果が認めれらている^1）。しかし，ATPそのものを点眼薬として用いることは，その化学的，生理的性質よりみて，種々の困難を伴う。すなわち，製剤的に不安定であり，細胞内の取り込みにも問題がある。

　そこで，上記のような欠点もなく，生体内ATPレベルを高めるnucleosideとしてのinosine（hypoxanthine riboside）の点眼薬への応用が注目される。著者は，inosineの点眼薬への応用の基礎的研究の一つとして，その角膜・虹彩毛様体酸素消費に及ぼす影響および角膜透過性について検討したので報告する。

The effects of inosine on oxygen consumption of the cornea, iris and ciliary body of rabbits were investigated when added to the incubation medium or instilled prior to excision of the tissues. Further, the penetration of inosine through the excised cornea was studied.

1. Significant increases in oxygen consump-tion of excised cornea resulted by the addition of 1 to 10 mg% inosine to the medium. Larger dosis of 10 to 100 mg% was necessary to at-tain similar increases in the iris and ciliary body.
