文部省の科研班"糖尿病性血管障害研究"と同一会場で行なわれた。最初に班研究として内科，生化学，病理各班員の研究経過報告があり，ついで眼科部門の報告が行なわれた。したがつて班研究報告の後半にはグループ・ディスカッションと共通する部分もあり，聴衆あるいは討論も班員のみでなく，広い形で行なわれた。班研究部門の報告をこの部門で省略することは，不自然に思われるけれども，限られた紙数の面でおゆるしねがいたい。その報告題名を記しておく。
The Symposium on diabetic retinopathy was held on Nov. 11, as a joint meeting with the State-sponsored research group on Vascular Disorders in Diabetes Mellitus. A total of 21 papers were presented. Discussions were cen-tered on: histological and ultrastructure aspects of diabetic retinopathy, possible correlation bet-ween various factors of diabetes mellitus and diabetic retinopathy, fluorescein findings of dia-betic retinopathy and therapeutic approach to diabetic retinopathy through photocoagulation, cytochrome, glutathione derivatives or cyanoco-balamin.
