I．緒言
1842年Benedikt1）氏は，痛風を伴つた緑内障の1家系を報告し，1856年von Arlt2）氏及び1867年Mooren3）等は，緑内障に遺伝的関係がある事を強調してから今日迄，外国では100家系余りの報告があり，本邦でも1907年新美直4）氏の報告以来，約30家系の報告がある。
この様に緑内障については，遺伝的関係が古くから重視されているにも拘らず，この方面の研究はあまりにも微々たるものであつて，未だに遺伝形式すらも確立されていない現状は，甚だ以つて遺憾に堪えない。況んや，眼疾患者でなくて，全人口の1〜2％に緑内障が見られるに於いておやである。
A genetic study was conducted about glau-coma to elucidate the genetic pattern of the disease and to facilitate early detection ofpatients. 90 out of 174 subjects belonging to 9 pedigrees were available for closer clinical inspection. Out of thease 90 subjects 38 (42.2%) proved to be glaucomatous, of which 37 were affected with open angle glaucoma and one with narrow angle one.
