I．緒言

　コリンは1849年Streckerにより始めて豚胆汁より分離され，1862年胆汁に因んで命名された物質である。

　以来，先人の研究によつて，コリンの性状並びに作用，コリン代謝等が明らかにされ，更にコリンの臨床的研究も進められている。

The authors measured choline content in the blood of the patients of arteriosclerosis retinae. They were divided into four groups according to Scheie's classification andr esult in each group was compared with and relationship among them was considered.

The measurement of choline content was carried out by Jacobi's choline-reineckate method.According to Kubo's modification, blood of 5cc was letted from median cubital vein before breakfast and chlorometry was done by use of spectrophotometer QB-52 (Shimazu) at 525 mμ. Moreover tolerance test of phosphorylcholine was also carried out.
