　骨粗鬆症性椎体骨折は，受傷時には予期できないほどの著しい椎体圧潰を来すことが少なくないことから，受傷時から椎体内に異常可動性を来しているのではないかと推測した．損傷椎体の動的情報を得る目的で仰臥位，側臥位，座位での側面X線撮影を行い，この撮影法を三態撮影と名付けた．新鮮椎体骨折20例に三態撮影を行った結果，椎体楔状角は仰臥位より側臥位，側臥位より座位で有意に大きくなっており，椎体異常可動性の存在を確認することができた．

　Osteoporotic vertebral fractures often lead to unpredictable vertebral collapse, probably because the vertebrae are unstable. To demonstrate abnormal movement of damaged vertebrae, lateral radiographs were taken in the supine position, lateral position, and sitting position. We call this series of X-rays “three positional radiography”. Radiographs of 20 consecutive fresh vertebral fractures showed certain changes in vertebral wedging angle, and they were smallest in the supine position and greatest in the sitting position. We succeeded in demonstrating abnormal vertebral movement by this radiographic technique.
