　Singhらは，圧迫性脊髄症の痙性麻痺の下肢運動機能評価法として，simple walking test（SWT）を紹介した．しかしこのSWTは，歩行不能例を評価できないことや，快適速度の定義があいまいで，患者が理解しにくいことが問題点である．今回われわれはmodified simple walking testとして，所要時間や歩数を逆数にすることにより歩行不能例の評価も行えるようにした．さらにSWTよりもさらに簡便な下肢痙性麻痺の評価法として，foot tapping test（FTT）の有用性についても検討した．FTTはmodified simple walking testと高い相関を示し，modified simple walking testよりもさらに簡便な下肢痙性麻痺評価法になりえると思われた．

　Singh and Crockard (1999) reported a simple walking test (SWT) as a quantitative assessment of spastic gait-disturbance caused by compression myelopathy. However, the original SWT has generated some discussion because unambulatory cases cannot be evaluated and because patients often have difficulty understanding the test because of the vague definition of walking speed. We have initiated a modified-SWT that can be used to evaluate unambulatory cases using the reciprocal number of the walking time and step. Moreover, we developed simpler foot tapping test (FTT) as a quantitative assessment of spastic gait-disturbance. FTT was correlated with the modified-SWT. We recommend FTT as a quantitative assessment of spastic gait-disturbance.
