Ｉ．緒言

　私共は最近小脳橋角部症候群を示した頭蓋底部のade—noid cystic carcinomaの1例を経験した。頭蓋底部のadenoid cystic carcinomaは極めて稀な疾患であり，神経放射線学的には特異な所見を呈し，さらに脳神経外科領域では特に他の疾患との鑑別診断が大切であるため，若干の考察を加えて報告する。

A case of adenoid cystic carcinoma of the skull base, which infiltrated directly from the nasophar-ynx and grew in the cerebellopontine angle region, and which showed typical cerebellopontine angle syndromes, was reported and the pertinent litera-tures were reviewed. Although this lesion is ex-tremely rare, it is very important to differentiate it from other lesions which involve the cranial nerves.

Neuroradiological examinations, specially plain skull x-rays and tomography of the skull are of value in the differential diagnosis between malig-nant and benign lesions, the former showed the desructive changes of the skull and the latter ex-pansive changes of the bone. We should like to point out the significences of thorough plain skull x-ray examinations in the elderly patients with cranial nerve deficiencies, keeping the existence of such malignant lesions of the skull base in mind.
