要旨　臨床上，胃の腺腫の取り扱いで最も問題となるのは，診断に確証が得られず，癌など他病変との鑑別が困難で，対処に悩むことである．この原因は，現在の生検法で採取される生検標本が小さく，診断に限界があるためである．strip biopsyは病巣全体を採取することが可能であり，病理学的診断が可能である．しかも，診断と同時に，治療をも兼ねることができる．

　It is extremely difficult to clearly differentiate gastric adenoma from other gastric lesions such as carcinoma based on the clinical data. Accordingly we are frequently faced with the difficulty in clinical management of the lesion diagnosed as gastric adenoma. This is partly due to small biopsy specimen as currently taken, making histological diagnosis unsatisfactory.

　The strip biopsy, on the other hand, is capable of removing a whole lesion with the size of the specimen being large enough for comprehensive pathological examination. In addition, this modality of biopsy is therapeutic by taking a whole lesion out.
