A case of neurocutaneous melanosis

Abstract A fifty-day-old boy was referred to our department. He had a giant congenital hairy nevus over his waist and buttock, and numerous pigmented nevi on his trunk and extremities. Pathological finding of biopsy from his waist lesion revealed a neuroid type nevus cell proliferation. Unenhanced T1-weighted MRI images showed hyperintense areas within the bilateral amygdala and hippocampus. These lesons were hypointense by T2-weighted images. A diagnosis of neurocutaneous melanosis was made based on his typical cutaneous lesions and MRI findings.
