A 66-year-old male underwent a partial pulmonary resection for lung cancer. The preoperative examination revealed a prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time(APTT). The cross-mixing test(CMT)indicated the presence of antiphospholipid antibody. Perioperative anticoagulation therapy was performed, and the surgery was completed without thrombotic complications. The CMT is a simple and rapid assay, and this patient’s case highlights the CMT’s clinical utility for identifying the etiology of APTT prolongation.
