超高齢化社会における老年麻酔と高齢麻酔科医の活躍は日本の重要なテーマであるため,本学会の運営と今後の展望を記載する。
Since Japan has become the most super-aging society in the world, the Japan Society for Geriatric Anesthesia(JSGA), established in 1989, has recently been garnering attention. The JSGA is an educational, research, and scientific society with more than 500 members organized to diffuse geriatric anesthesia. The main goals of the JSGA are to improve not only the quality of geriatric anesthesia and the perioperative management of elderly patients, but also to address and resolve technical issues and improve the working environment for aged anesthesiologists. Projects overseen by the JSGA are scientific meetings, the certification of expert geriatric anesthesiologists, and the presentation of the Fukushima Award. The JSGA is expected to continue to facilitate the development of geriatric anesthesia.
