 Purpose: To obtain suggestions for the maintenance of the quality of“EASE program”, we extracted intervention effects and elements required of nurses from the literature on these programs. Methods: We searched for papers on“behavior change programs”and“EASE program”using the Japana Centra Revuo Medicina and PubMed and also conducted a search manually to extract references. The extracted references were read closely, and the effects of interventions using EASE program were clarified based on the degree of achieving established aims. In addition, elements required of nurses to perform EASE program were extracted from the papers, and their characteristics and similarities were clarified. Results: There were 94 papers on“behavior modification programs”and“EASE program”. Evaluation of the papers confirmed the effects of interventions using EASE program but their improper use in some papers. The most frequently observed element required of nurses was communication skills. Discussion: The effects of EASE program were confirmed. However, their improper use pushes patients toward self-management. To prevent this improper use, the selection and practice of appropriate techniques by consulting with patients are important. In addition, nurses performing EASE programming EASE program should learn communication skills to entice patients to speak about their views and to take an interest in something for the smooth advancement of such programs. Conclusion: The effect of the EASE program were 88.6%. The element primarily required of nurses who perform the EASE program was communication skills.
