This study clarifies the obscure concept of “information ethics” in the field of nursing, to allow nurses to handle nursing information based on appropriate ethics in the information-oriented society. Using Walker and Avant's concept analysis method, 19 documents were analyzed for general usage of information ethics, and 20 documents were analyzed to extract concept attributes, prior requirements, and consequences. As a result, three defining attributes, five antecedents, and six consequences were extracted. For information ethics in nursing, it is necessary to first acquire knowledge and skills, especially the ability to utilize information, and then cultivate susceptibility to risk, judgment on the importance of information, and awareness of how to handle information. Furthermore, we will foster the ability to utilize information and skills in handling information, comply with the obligation to protect personal information and maintain its confidentiality, behave with consideration for patients, collect and manage appropriate information, and reflect it in nursing practice. The importance of these was suggested.
