A Clearing up Test consisting of 7 types of clearing up tasks and a Behavioral Assessment of the Dysexecutive Syndrome (BADS) were conducted on 2 groups that were classified on the basis of the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE): 10 subjects with mild Alzheimer's disease (AD group) and 10 subjects with Non-dementia (ND group). The reliability and relevance of these criteria for evaluation were examined. The results revealed that the Clearing up Test could potentially be a means of assessment of executive functions. In addition, it was indicated that the Clearing up Test was better suited for subjects with mild AD than BADS. However, in terms of the subcategories of the Clearing up Test, namely "checking behavior" and the "elapsed time from the commencement of the Clearing up Test until the beginning of the task," there was no significant difference between the 2 groups; thus, this criteria may not be suitable for the evaluation of AD patients.
