We examined the relationship between exploratory eye movement and OT tasks in 18 schizophrenic patients in comparison with 18 healthy persons.
The easy-line figure tariff of the train was shown, and it indicated: "It goes from the Dazaifu station to the Kurume station. Confirm a charge." The eye movements were analyzed with an eye-mark recorder with five parameters: mean gazing time, total number of gazing points, mean and total scanning length of gazing points, the frequency of gazing point shift. The schizophrenic patients had significantly longer gazing time and narrower eye movements than those of healthy subjects. The schizophrenic patients had a few eye movements, confirming a part from the whole in comparison with the healthy persons. And, there were a few eye movements, confirming the whole from the part, too.
The evaluation of OT used the percentage of OTs attendance per one month and the Work scale of LASMI (W-scale). The W-scale and the percentage of OTs attendance are linked to the search of the departure station and reconfirmation of the whole.
Results suggest that schizophrenic patients have a disorder with regard to recognition of verbal directions.
Furthermore, these results indicate visual cognitive deficits.
