病院におけるパンデミックへの備えには，手指衛生の実施率を常に高水準に維持し，血液・体液曝露が生じ得るあらゆる場面においてリスクに見合う個人防護具（PPE）を使用すること，新興感染症の発生に関する情報収集を行いながら現実味のある状況設定に基づいた訓練を行うことなどが含まれる。さらに，サプライチェーンが断絶した場合の対応についても検討しておくとよいだろう。パンデミックの発生後は，感染対策の根拠となる疫学・臨床情報を継続的に収集しながら，疑似症を早期発見し，隔離予防策を行うための体制を迅速に構築しなければならない。新型コロナウイルス感染症（COVID-19）の流行は，パンデミック対応における多数の課題を浮き彫りにした。COVID-19はいずれ終息するだろうが，パンデミックは再度起こる。今回の経験は必ず次回に活かさなければならない。

Preparation for a pandemic in hospitals includes maintaining a high rate of hand hygiene, standardizing the use of personal protective equipment （PPE） to prevent blood and body fluid exposure, and conducting drills based on realistic scenarios while regularly seeking information on the emergence of a novel infectious agents. Preparing for disruption of the supply chain is also advisable. In the event of a pandemic, a system for early detection and isolation of suspected cases must be implemented promptly, while continuously collecting epidemiological and clinical information upon which hospitals' infection prevention strategies are constructed. The COVID-19 pandemic has identified numerous issues surrounding the response to a pandemic. What we have learned so far must be utilized to develop future pandemic preparedness plans.
