  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

When muscle or nerve in human body is stimulated electrically through the skin, the stimulating current form and strength, not distorted by the skin impedance, must be measured accurately. Since the electric equivalent of skin is a parallel network of resistance and capacity, the skin polarization can be balanced by adjusting an arti-ficially inserted network of the same kind, so that the time constants of both the networks are equal to each other. By using the Balancing Network Method, the nerve and muscle in the human body are stimulated accurately with current of difinite form, with which the thresholds can be determined.
