  • Abstract

Senior technologist : We talked about the word puropa before. Since then, I received some suggestions from our readers, who wrote to say the word puropa may come from the word 'propaganda', 'propagator', or 'propagandist.' What do you think?

English editor : Recently I read an article that concerned the misprescription① of drugs in the magazine The Atlantic. The article was in the May 1988 issue,② and it said, "Doctors get the vast majority③ of their information about new drugs from pharmaceutical sales representatives,④ known in the industry⑤ as detail men, or detailers."⑥ It adds, "As salesmen, the detailers try to promote the latest and most profitable drugs for their companies."
