Papillary Hypertrophy of the Tonsils: A Case Report and Review

I．緒言

　口蓋扁桃乳頭状肥大は，稀な形態異常の一つであり，本邦では39例の報告をみるにすぎない。

　我々は口蓋扁桃の形態異常および感冒様症状を主訴とした3歳男子の本症を経験した。両口蓋扁桃表面には，多数の米粒大ないし小豆大の乳頭状隆起を認めた。本例に，全麻下で両口蓋扁桃摘出術およびアデノイド切除術を施行した。

　Papillary hypertrophy of the tonsils is one of the rare abnormalities of the palatine tonsils, and only 39 cases have been reported in Japan.

　A 3-year-old boy who complained of atypical hypertrophy of the tonsils with common cold like symptoms was consulted in our clinic. On the surface of the palatine tonsils, there were many, rice-or pea-sized, papillary projections. Tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy were performed under general anesthesia.

　The histopathological examination of the tonsils revealed lymphoid hyperplasia with partly edema. It was supposed that the etiology of this disease is congenital disorder with inflammation.
