高度の網膜症を伴つた若年型糖尿病患者に両側の突発性難聴が発症した例を経験したので報告する。
A 27-year-old male who has been diabetic since 14 years of age was admitted to our hospital with bilateral sudden deafness.
He was totally deaf on admission but hearing improvement was observed after treatment with steroid hormone. The condition of diabetes mellitus was relatively good, and the symptoms of nephropathy and neuropathy were not remarkable. On the other hand, diabetic retinopathy (Scott V) has become increasingly severe in the past two years.
It was suggested that retinopathy (microangiopathy) is related to the development of sudden deafness.
